WHAT IS IT WE SEEK?

Eph 3:14-21

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height — 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. NKJV

The Apostle Paul’s prayer for you.

1. That God would strengthen our inner man according to His riches in Glory, with the power of His might.

2. That Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith.

3. That we being rooted and grounded in Love may comprehend the width, length, depth and height of the Love of Christ which passes knowledge.

4. That you may be filled with the fullness of God.

Paul‘s first request is that God would strengthen our inner man. Who is our inner man? Our inner man is our spiritual man. It is the essence of who we are. We are a Spirit with a soul and a body. But because we are made in the image of God and God is Spirit, first and foremost we are spirit and the spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all the inner depths of his heart. Prov 20:27 What does the word strengthen mean? Strengthen comes from the Greek word krataioo (krat-ah-yo'-o) and it means to empower by, or to increase in vigor: (Strong's)

We should all be empowered by His might. His might is from the Greek word dunamis (doo'-nam-is) and it means miraculous power or wonder working power. (Strong's)

Where does this power come from? It comes from Christ dwelling in our hearts through faith and we being rooted and grounded in love.

Love is the energy or power source of faith. This is why Paul wrote “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.” Gal 5:6

The word working defines the very essence of why love is needed with faith. Working is from the Greek word energeo (en-erg-eh'-o), it where we get the English word energy, and it means to be active, efficient, to be empowered or energized by - love. Faith without love has no power.

We will never move in the fullness of God’s power until we comprehend (take hold of) the width, length, depth and height of the Love of Christ.

A love that is beyond our three dimensional worldly thinking, a love that moves us into the forth dimension – the fullness of God.

We should all seek more of God’s power to move in our lives, but we will only find it when more of God’s love in moving through our lives.
